Alabama, Air Force, Fallon, and Warriors consume Obama's weekly schedule

Somewhere along the way, someone taught President Obama the saying:

All work and no play
makes Jack a dull boy!

Not wanting to be dull, Mr. Obama has taken this to heart and avoids much work.

A week has 7 days each containing 24 hours; and a common laborer must work about 40 hours a week.

By comparison, the President works about half of this. Using his last week's schedule as an indicator of his working effort, we find the President spends:
  • 7 hours in meetings
  • 3 hours greeting sports teams and other guests
  • 5 hours touring and speaking
  • 3 hours at campaign events, and
  • 2 hours taping television events and a weekly speech.
However, travel is often required, and last week, he was in a plane, helicopter, or limousine around 10 additional hours.

During the week, he met with his senior advisers 3 times, had 3 daily briefings, and met with Mrs. Clinton.

He welcomed 2 sports teams, wounded warriors, and teacher finalists to the White House. Obama visited the Holocaust Museum, and 2 community colleges. In between all this, he managed to sign a Proclamation naming Fort Ord a National Monument, and taped an interview with Jimmy Fallon.

And, Mr. Obama attended 3 campaign events.  By comparison, VP Biden also attended 3 campaign events, and Michell Obama attended 2.

The following summarizes the public schedule of the President, Mrs. Obama, and Vice President Biden in the week from Wednesday April 18 through Tuesday April 24, 2012.

Today, Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Cartagena Columbia excursion introduces new U.S. morality behavior

The week of Wednesday April 11 through Tuesday April 17 found the Air Force One planes traveling across the Americas. Here we have VP Biden hitting campaign events in Minneapolis MN, Exeter NH, and Scarsdale NY. Mrs. Obama flew to New York City to appear on The Colbert Report and is now fundraising in Nashville TN and Pittsburgh PA. The President stayed local for 4 days, interviewing on television, and attending only 1 fundraiser.

But, he did enjoy a 3 day junket in Cartagena Columbia attending a CEO Summit (hmm, I thought he was a President, not a CEO). As he had mentioned in one of his meetings, the real purpose of this enjoyable trip was to find a new location for a family vacation. But, all kidding aside, this international exposure highlighted the moral collapse in our government team. First, several Secret Service members were found to be arranging prostitute visits, and then Hillary Clinton was pictured drinking and dancing the night away.

Neither of these should be a surprise to the American public, particularly since the President has authorized free distribution of birth control and condoms.

As for Presidential work, Mr. Obama held two daily briefings, met with Senior Advisers twice, and met with Geithner and Panetta.

The Obama / Biden team together attended 9 campaign events, and today, the President is honoring race car driver Tony Stewart.

Saturday, April 14, 2012
  • Obama attended a CEO Summit, a ceremony, and a dinner in Columbia.
Friday, April 13, 2012
  • President Obama flew to Tampa Florida to speak. Afterwards, he boarded the plane and flew to Cartagena, Colombia for 3 days.
Thursday, April 12, 2012
  • Mr. Obama interviewed with regional TV anchors.
  • VP Biden attended a campaign event at noon in Exeter NH, then he flew to Scarsdale NY to attend another campaign event.

  • Mrs. Obama was a guest on the "Colbert Report" in New York City.
  • Joe Biden traveled to Minneapolis, MN and attended a campaign event for Senator Amy Klobuchar.

For fun, we leave you with the President's schedule for the past two days which have been extracted from Politico.

Let's Move! and Get Some Ice Cream, Kids!

Realizing that "Parents and caregivers play a key role in not only making healthy choices for children and teaching children to make healthy choices for themselves", (Let's Move! Eat Healthy), Michelle Obama took the lead and treated her children to ice cream and other treats.

Lynn Sweet's article: Michelle Obama, Malia, Sasha on vacation: Visited Mount Rushmore quotes 'the Rapid City Journal: After visiting Mount Rushmore, "Then they showed a bit of a sweet tooth by stopping at the Turtle Town old-fashioned fudge and ice-cream shop in Keystone, where manager Deb Splinter served them ice cream and other treats." '

Yes, on her way to a San Francisco fundraiser, the First Lady stopped to visit Mount Rushmore before spending the night in Las Vegas. (Nice work if you can get it).

Meanwhile, her jet-lagged husband relaxed most of the week. Although he took some time to bash the Supreme Court and oil companies, he managed to hold 6 U.S. related meetings during the last week. Three were daily briefings, one with senior advisers, Mr. Panetta, and Mrs. Clinton.

Mr. Obama actually spent more time meeting with foreign dignitaries yesterday than he did performing his U.S. Presidential duties.

However, he spent all day last Friday on the campaign trail attending 4 fundraisers. The VP, Mr. Biden, beat Obama this week by attending 5 campaign events on his own. While Mrs. Obama only attended 1 campaign event, her priority was entertaining herself and attending the Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

Below is a summary of the Obama and Biden work efforts during Wednesday March 28, 2012 and today, Tuesday, April 3, 2012.

Obama: No time for America when meeting with foreign leaders and attending fundraisers

The Presidential duties of the past two weeks have been primarily focused on meeting with leaders of other countries and fundraising.  Very little time has been dedicated to the American public, leading the country, or working with any members of the Congress or Senate.

Having read the public schedule of the President over the past few months and summarizing it on this blog, we finally realized how little time Mr. Obama spends on U.S. domestic affairs versus meeting with and entertaining foreign leaders and diplomats. For example, whenever the President is abroad, his daily schedule appears to be filled with meetings and attending events.

However, when he is here in this country, his schedule typically accounts for only 2 to 3 hours of his time, unless he is on the campaign trail. In those cases, he will board Air Force One early in the morning and travel to various cities in order to attend campaign events.

For example, during the past few days that Obama has been in Seoul Korea, he has met with at least 6 world leaders and attended various work and ceremonial sessions. Before his trip, he spent 2 days with PM Cameron of the UK and met twice with PM Kenny of Ireland.

But by comparison, during the days he was in the White House, he only met with his senior advisers twice, had two Daily Briefings, and met once with Panetta, Clinton, and Geithner. At no time did he meet members of the Senate or Congress.

However, 12 campaign events were attended. Mr. Obama led the field with 6, VP Biden had 4, and Michelle Obama is credited with two.

High cost of fuel doesn't stop Obama from jetting to NCAA tournament at taxpayer expense

In this past week, President Obama's public schedule has been very relaxing. He held 4 daily briefings and met with Senior Advisers twice. He made an announcement about China and expressed sympathy for the Afghan civilians.  He toured 2 manufacturing facilities, sat for a series of TV interviews, and told the American public that he couldn't do anything that would affect the high gasoline prices we are forced to pay.

Perhaps the most important duties he performed related to his own personal agenda. Mr. Obama met with representatives of the National League of Cities, a non-profit advocacy group whose purpose is to influence federal policy; and he had lunch with Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York. He only attended two fundraisers but treated winners of his democratic fundraising contest to dinner.

Saving the best for last, he now flying off  to Dayton Ohio to watch a first round NCAA Basketball tournament game.

Michelle Obama appeased the Arab and Muslim communities by attending the 2012 International Women of Courage Awards ceremony before taking to the skies and speaking at a New Hampshire Community College and a Boston Fundraiser. Today, she's hosting her own mini-Olympics.

Vice President Biden's schedule has been secretive. They stopped posting his schedule on White House website for the past 2 weeks, so we only know about his steak and truffle dinner last night.

Here is a summary of their major weekly activities for the week of March 7 through March 13, 2012.

Mr. & Mrs. Obama attend 10 campaign events, but Biden only had 1

Last week's campaign fundraising total was 11 events.  Both the President and Mrs. Obama tied with 5 campaign events each, while VP Biden trailed with only one.

For real USA country business, Mr. Obama attended 4 daily briefings, and met once with his senior advisors, Geithner, Panetta, and Clinton.  He also completed 2 sessions with Mr. Netanyahu.
