Obama's work week: One briefing and 2 days of campaigning! (No wonder he wants to be President again)

As August winds down and we approach the 70 day to election mark, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, has officially stopped working for the country! Yes, during the past seven days, Mr. Obama's official schedule was composed of only 1 daily briefing, and was bracketed by two days of campaign travel on Air Force One. During this period, Mr. Obama attended 6 campaign events in 4 different states.

By contrast, his wife, Michelle, attended 3 campaign events in 3 different states. Although they are not listed on the White House Schedule, the White House Speeches and Remarks page contains the text of her speeches.

And, even though everyone thinks that Joe Biden is out of the picture, the Vice President and his wife were the star speakers at 5 more campaign events.

Luckily for the Obama campaign, a hurricane is raging in the Gulf. As this storm of nature presents drama, the Obama campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki used it to divert attention from Obama's lack of work to the importance of "campagning". As she stated:

The president is also out there laying out the stakes for what is a very important election for a generation, there’s almost no group with higher stakes for what happens in November. That’s also important.” (Team Obama on campaigning during Isaac: The Republicans are doing it, too)

So now it's official, there is no higher stakes than winning reelection for the Obama for America campaign.

To heck with the country! We're bashing Romney and blaming Bush and the rest of the Republicans. These are the real contributions of the Obama Administration.

Below is a summary of President Obama's official schedule during the week Wednesday August 22 through Tuesday August 28, 2012.

Is the country running on auto-pilot now?

Note: we modified this post to reflect the President's surprise visit  to Afghanistan.

During the past week, President Obama spent less than 6 3 hours attending to Official U.S. business and an additional 3 hours addressing international affairs. Much of the time, he has traveled the U.S. delivering campaign speeches disguised at legislative proposals and working on things that he has chosen to not publicly disclose.

We do know that he held 3 2 daily briefings, and met with Senior advisers, Panetta and Geithner once each. He met with Prime Minister Noda of Japan, students, and military personnel. He spoke at an AFL-CIO event and received their endorsement, and he hosted the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
